Challenge & Prize Rules

Last updated

Coaches run challenges on CoachVana: most steps, most training days, a weight-loss or strength goal. Points, levels, badges and leaderboards are for motivation and have no cash value. These rules apply to every challenge, and the second half applies when a coach offers a prize.

Every challenge

  • The coach who creates a challenge runs it and is responsible for it. CoachVana provides the tools and does not organize, judge or award anything.
  • Standings come from what entrants log or sync. Log honestly; entering activity you did not do breaks our Acceptable Use & Community Guidelines, and the coach may remove you from the challenge.
  • Train safely. A challenge is never a reason to train through pain or restrict food to dangerous levels. Our Terms of Service explain the risk of training.
  • Entrants must be 18 or older, like everyone on CoachVana.

If a coach offers a prize

The coach is the sponsor of the prize and the promotion. CoachVana is not a sponsor, does not provide or deliver any prize, and is not responsible for one. A coach who offers a prize agrees to:

  • Publish official rulesin the challenge description before it starts: the sponsor's name and how to contact them, who can enter, the start and end, how to enter, how the winner is decided, what the prize is and its value, how and when winners are told, and any limits.
  • Decide winners by performance, never by chance. A random draw for a prize, combined with a purchase or paid membership to enter, can be an illegal lottery. If you want a drawing, you need a free way to enter and rules written for a sweepstakes, and you should get legal advice.
  • Follow the law where entrants live. Some states require registration and a bond for larger prizes in games of chance (Florida and New York, for example, above $5,000). Prizes may be taxable to the winner, and a sponsor may have to report them.
  • Deliver what you promised, on time, and don't change the rules after the challenge starts in a way that hurts entrants.
  • Don't require a review, a post or a referral to win, and don't present a winner's result as typical in your marketing.

Apple and Google

Apple and Google are not sponsors of, and are not involved in, any challenge or prize on CoachVana, and are not responsible for them.
